DESIGN

I'm a compulsively creative person whose life is devoted mostly to an endless series of projects. Elsewhere on this site, you can find out all about my various pursuits in theatre, literature, and music.

In addition to my own projects, I spend a good deal of time working on other people's projects as a freelancer. I work as a writer, performer, tour guide, and public speaker for hire. I've also worked extensively as a visual artist and graphic designer, including ongoing work as the resident designer for Max Merchandising, a leading creator of apparel, publications, and souvenirs for Broadway shows and other cultural events.

If your current project calls for distinctive and professional graphic design, let's talk! Scroll down for work samples from my design portfolio.

THEATRICAL PUBLICITY

I've been drawing and doodling since early childhood, but my first real work as a designer was for my own theatrical productions. My shows needed posters, postcards, logos, title treatments, and eventually websites, so I learned these things out of necessity. Today, the majority of my graphic design work is still in the field I love the most, the theatre. The following gallery highlights a number of my theatrical publicity designs, for other people's productions as well as my own.

PRINT PUBLICATIONS

Design, like everything else, is now largely an on-screen experience. Much of my design work is created, published, and viewed entirely online, never to exist as a physical object. Nevertheless, my favorite design work is for print. Work which exists in print seems to exist more fully, and more genuinely. Although I'm happy to work on designs for pages which scroll, my preference is for pages which turn. The following gallery shows a selection of layouts and designs created specifically for print.
