The Road to Pintele
Here’s another photo from that celebrated production of Fiddler on the Roof which ran for years in my family’s various living rooms. Here we are at Grandma Bunny’s house in West Hartford, circa 1989. My brother Joe, as the fiddler, stands on the piano bench with a paper violin. In the middle, there I am, a twelve-year-old Tevye. I’m wearing my father’s Greek fisherman cap, a beard I made by cutting up an ALF costume, and a tallis I made from a washcloth. (This Tevye also seems to be wearing a digital watch.) My sister Shayna, on the right, looks notably less ridiculous than we do. She played so many characters, I’m not sure if she’s Golde, Tzeitl, Hodel, or Yente in this picture.
You’ll hear all about this, and much more, when the limited-series audio experience Pintele premieres this spring!
