Pintele Update: It’s “Finished”

These are the final hours of the last day of the year 2025, and I’m astonished to report that tonight, all seven episodes of Pintele are finished.

Well, make that “finished.” Amanda is organizing her notes on Parts 6 and 7, after which my small family preview audience will hear them. Their responses might yield small revisions, but the series is essentially done. I feel satisfied with it, and I could release the whole thing today if I had to.

There’s still some Pintele work ahead of me. The Pintele Haggadah isn’t quite finished, nor are the complex “Notes and Sources” which will be published online with the release of each chapter. But the heart of this project, the audio series, about seven and a half hours of it, is finished. I can’t believe it.

There was a time when I thought I’d have this wrapped up a year ago! Last December I confidently exclaimed that Pintele 1 would be released “in early 2025.” So you’d be forgiven for rolling your eyes when I tell you now that it will be released in early 2026. But you’ll see! Figuring out the exact release calendar, and other details of the unveiling, now moves to the top of my to-do list. But you’ll hear Pintele very soon. That is, it’ll be available soon, and I hope you’ll consider listening to it.

I’ve been working so intensely on Pintele, it’s occupied virtually all of my discretionary time for well over a year. I’ve barely gone anywhere or done anything. I’ve watched, read, or listened to almost nothing that wasn’t research. I’m not out of the woods; I still have four days off, so I’m hoping to finish up The Pintele Haggadah and at least the first few episodes’ notes. But I can contemplate a very near future in which I catch up with loved ones, say yes to an invitation once in a while, maybe read a book or go to a play. Imagine!

Well, more soon, of course. But I wanted to report this news before the ball drops. Happy New Year!
